Mid-February Book Haul

Chinese New Year was a week ago and thank God my family was celebrating it. So yeah, there's some of

this. Yeah, we call it Ang Pao. No, the picture above is not mine, I just take it randomly from google. Got easy money just made me wanted to get some new books which I did.
I'm going to do a book haul every each month but I guess I'm going to do a mid-month book haul sometime as well. Does this sound like I'm bragging? Yeah, it does.

The first book I got back in the beginning of the month, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (Paperback Edition). I should've gotten the hardcover edition!
Haven't had time to read this ones, but I'd gotten it unwrapped. I just couldn't stand not seeing what was inside this book that make most people crazy about it. I can't wait to go through this book.

This is not a novel! My Life as Film Director by Haqi Ahmad. A book about how Film Director's life is. Since I'm so into Film Directing and there's also Joko Anwar, one of my favorite Film Director, I guess why not? As you might guess, I haven't read this one and it's still wrapped. I guess I'm going to save it for later.

The last ones and my favorite, Clockwork Prince By Cassandra Clare. *Crowd Cheering*
Since I read the first book, Clockwork Angel which I loved so much, I've been dying to get the second book. Bought this at Periplus for 110.000 IDR. It's worth it.
I'm currently struggling with City of Ashes. School has been really hectic these days, I don't have enough time to read. I can't really know when exactly I'll read this, but hopefully asap. I need to finish this before the third book, the last ones, release.

So guys, these are my new books for this mid-february and there are more coming. I think I'm going to visit Periplus soon enough and I need your advice.
Which book should I buy for this month?

1. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
2. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
3. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margareth Stohl
4. Starters by Lisa Price
5. The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan
6. Legend by Maria Lu
7. Every Day by David Levithan
8. Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
9. Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

OR

10. Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L James

Hahahahaha... Just kidding guys, I won't buy that trash, though I really curious with that trash... but no I won't spend my money on that.
Leave your comment below and let me know which book should I buy. Thank you, Have a nice February!

PERCY JACKON & THE OLYMPIAN: THE LIGHTNING THIEF

Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Hyperion Books
Published: January 5th, 2010

BOOK SYNOPSIS
Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them. Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.

Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

BOOK REVIEW
To be honest, I've never liked Percy Jackson. I remember when I watched the movie and hated it so much. It's like the worst book adaptation movie after Twilight.
That's probably why I've never had the reason to try reading Rick Riordan's works. I also have no interest with Greek myth, so yeah this book was not supposed for me. Heck, I was wrong.

The first installment of the series, The Lightning Thief, is really good. The characters are awesome and lovable. I found myself loving Annabeth more than the main character, Percy Jackson. This book make Greek Myth sounds fun and not boring.

What I really love from this book is that it can be accepted by human mind. No weird superpowers whatsoever. Even though all the half-bloods are gods child, they seems perfectly normal. They can't fly and stuff, and I love when a writer have some boundaries in imagination.
Well, I don't believe that Myth gods is actually exist (since I'm a christian, duh?!) and everything in this book is quite impossible to be happened, but somehow Rick Riordan convince me that it could happens.

There are lots of twists in this book, lots of action, but too bad - no suspense at all. Percy and his team - Grover & Annabeth - face lots of monsters and all the fight are won easily... of course by Percy and his team. Also most of the fight ends in one chapter, leaving you with no question, giving you no curiosity. Making you think, "Well, I can read the next chapter tomorrow, there's nothing that make me curious anyway."

The biggest flaw in this book that comes up to my mind is how Percy is seriously stupid about hiding his identity while the police, heck, the country is looking for him and suspect him as some kind of terrorist accomplice. Yeah sure, just take a bus, show your cute little face to everybody in the bus while your face is all over the TV and newspaper.... and all of the people are like, "I think I've seen this boy before. Is he some kind of actor or something?".... Yeah right...

The story is great, the writing is perfectly fine, perfectly paced. When a book is perfectly paced, I'll definitely love it and that's what I feel about Percy Jackson, Love.
The ending doesn't really impress me. Leave me with just few little questions and I don't mind finding it out next year... Like I said before, this book gives me no curiosity.

Anyway, I rate this book:

This is a good book and you have to read it. Even though, I have no curiosity for the next book, Sea of Monsters, I think I'll buy it anyway. Hopefully, it'll be better than the first book.

January Book Haul

Since I'm not a booktuber, I'm going to do my January Book Haul in this blog. January was crazy. I'd spent so much money for books and none of them has been read yet.
I have a really tight schedule and January was a hectic month. The National Exam is getting closer and it's impossible for me to sit, relax and enjoy books.
Okay, let's go straight to what's matter in this post, Book Haul.

I'd shared some of it on my previous post, but I guess it's fine to talk about it again. So I bought:
1. The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
2. Warm Bodies By Isaac Marion
3. Lolita By Vladimir Nabokov
4. City of Ashes By Cassandra Clare
5. Clockwork Angel By Cassandra Clare
6. Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows (UK Version) By J.K Rowling
7. Tintenherz (Inkheart) By Cornelia Funke

I'd managed to finish Clockwork Angel By Cassandra Clare, I'd also written a review of it. Click Here for the review.
As you can see, some books are still wrapped. I hadn't unwrapped Tintenherz, Warm Bodies and The Great Gatsby because I thought I wouldn't read it soon. Actually, I hadn't read any of those books except Clockwork Angel.

Mainly because I'm focusing on reading Rick Riordan's work, Percy Jackson & The Olympian

Well, it's not my book. I borrow this book from my school's library. I've managed to reached page 200 now. I'm trying to finish it as soon as possible so I can continue to City of Ashes.
More books are coming this month (February) since Chinese's New Year is so near; if you know what I mean.
I've made up a list for my February Books-To-Buy List.
1. The Lost Hero By Rick Riordan
2. Enclave By Ann Aguirre
3. Unravel Me By Tahereh Mafi
4. Clockwork Prince By Cassandra Clare
5. Every Other Day By Jennifer Lynn Barnes
6. World War Z By Max Brooks
7. Silver Lining Playbooks By Matthew Quick
8. Every Day By David Levithan
9. Struck By Lightning By Chris Colfer
10. Starters By Lisa Price

No, I'm not going to buy all of the 10 books in my list. It's impossible. It'd probably costs me more than a million rupiah, so NO! Maybe 5 books? It won't hurt. But first I have to read all the unread books in my bookshelf, especially the ones I bought in January.
Anyway, I've been working hard for my lack skill of English. So I've made a decision to buy all the books in English version from now on. Hopefully, my English will be improved eventually. And yes, English version novel will cost me a fortune.

That's all guys. I really love writing this.

Hope you'll have a nice beautiful February!

Nicely Wrapped Sunday

What did you do for Sunday?
So yesterday I went for a movie at Grand Indonesia, I'm joining BlitzClub Nonbar event. It was a very good deal. 25 IDR for a movie ticket and I also got one drink and snack.
The movie was 3AM 3D, a thai horror movie. The review will coming up later.

Do you believe in coincidence? I watched  3AM in 3D at nearly 3 PM and my seat was E-3. Too much 3 for that day. 3AM is an omnibus movie, a movie which indicates different stories in it. This is not the first thailand movie which uses this concept. The other famous horror omnibus from Thailand: Phobia, Phobia 2...

After the movie, I had a nice tasty burger. You know, there's nothing more exciting than a tasty burger on Sunday. I'd only spent 32 IDR for Burger, Fries, Ice Lemon Tea and Ice Cream. That was a pretty good deal.

The last reason why I was so in love with my Sunday, I got another book (yes, again!). I'd spent countless money for books this month and it has to be stopped soon!

The Fault in Our Stars By John Green.
People have been talking about this book and I'm dying to have it! I don't really want to read it, I just want to have it because the book cover is so freaking cool! I got the paperback edition since the hardcover was out of stock.....and of course, it's way more expensive.
John Green's TFiOS won the Goodreads Awards 2012 and it's rated 4.13 out of 5. So it's must be good, right?
I'm still working on with Percy Jackson and The Olympian: The Lightning Thief (I know it's really late to read this), I borrow the book from my school's library. I've reached page 150 and so far it's been good. As soon as I finish it, I'll move on to TFiOS and move forward to City of Ashes, Warm Bodies and try to finish Rise of Nine.

Wish you a good week!
